Montreal, QC and Fort Mill, SC – A sweeping campaign designed to highlight the importance of paper in our lives will debut Monday. Domtar Corporation (NYSE/TSX: UFS) is launching its “Paper Because” campaign through advertisements that will appear in major U.S. and Canadian media outlets, including: The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Globe & Mail, Fast Company, Audubon, National Geographic and other consumer and trade publications. The campaign will also feature online banner ads and a series of short videos that will appear in a variety of online media.

MeadWestvaco Corp. has agreed to sell its Envelope Products Group to Cenveo Inc., a leading graphic communications company based in Stamford, CT. The divestiture of the Envelope Products Group, which is part of MWV's Consumer & Office Products business, to Cenveo will better position the business for continued growth and success. The sale is expected to close at the end of 2010. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Central National-Gottesman Inc. (CNG) today announced that its Lindenmeyr Munroe division has acquired the assets and business of Frank Parsons's Fine Paper Division, one of the mid-Atlantic region's leading independent paper merchants. The purchase includes Frank Parsons's entire fine paper operation, which serves seven U.S. markets and consists of locations in or near Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, Lynchburg, VA, Norfolk, VA, Richmond, VA, Harrisburg, PA, and Pittsburgh, PA. Also included in the sale are six wholesale paper stores.

Suppliers of tissue and towel products have traditionally focused on the amount of recycled fiber content of these products when making environmentally conscious purchase decisions. The current thinking is: If a product is recycled, then it must be good for the environment, and the more recycled content there is, the better. Certainly, utilizing recycled fiber helps to reduce the demand on natural forests, so it is always good to think about recycling. However, is using recycled fiber the only solution?
